Expectations for 2024 are for more seasonal impact to return and less post-covid bottom-bouncing. Shippers are looking much more closely at their networks, and are realigning capacity in anticipation of a return to more normal supply-demand balance. As strategies shift from capitalizing on abundant cost savings opportunities to maintaining necessary service expectations, communicating key points of value as a broker in addition to price will be a major component to sustaining meaningful relationships through the near-term bid season, especially where commitments exist. As capacity aligns more with demand, managing service and capacity needs will become top of mind for shippers.
